Chaturu Maji and Lion story
In a village, there lived an old man who was all alone. He had one daughter who was married and lived in a nearby village. One day, the old man decided to visit his daughter. To reach that village, he had to pass through a forest. While the old man was walking through the forest, a lion appeared and told the old man that he was very hungry and would eat him.
The old man was very clever. He came up with a plan to trick the lion. The old man said to the lion, “I am very old and weak. If you eat me now, what will you get? Let me go visit my daughter, eat well, and become healthy. Then you can eat me.”
The lion thought about it and realized that the old man was right. Eating him now would only give him bones. But if he let the old man go and come back, he could eat him when he was healthier. The lion let the old man go.
On the way, the old man also encountered a tiger and a bear. He used the same trick to fool them and continued his journey.
After spending a few days at his daughter’s house, the old man decided to return to his home. He knew that the lion, tiger, and bear would be waiting for him and would kill him. So he came up with another clever idea. He built a large round container. The old man sat inside it and started rolling it from inside through the forest.
The lion saw the rolling container and asked, “Have you seen the old man who went to visit his daughter?”
The clever old man changed his voice and replied from inside the container, “What old man? What village? Come, container, let’s go to the village.”
Hearing this, the lion got scared and moved away. The same thing happened with the tiger and the bear; they all got frightened and ran away.
Thus, the clever old man safely reached his home.
